Student answer (Band 4.5)
In some states the primary and middle school are turned off either for two or more then two months in summer vacations.Over the recent years, this topic has become hotly debated issue in society. This concern is particularly significant due to it's impact on education, affecting both individuals and societies. In this essay i will discuss both perspective of the holidays.
One of the major concern is swear weather conditions.Due to extension of holidays cause of problems in syllabus and academic activities of the students. If students have long term vacations in their basic level of schooling ,they may face some difficulties in their syllabus coverage and commitments regarding the learning. For example ,If the lesson plan is designe as per working days and due to long term vacations students unable to attend the school and ciuld not attend the lesson this will cause poor performance on the basic level.
on the other hand ,Bad weather also effect the students health .This is the alarming situation for the students to face such a horrible situation during the school days.
as in their early age and early school.it is difficult for the them to attend the school in extremely hot weather,so short shool holidays can be consider by keeping the suitable time slot for the students. For instance, if you start your schools early andand give them off befire the afternoon.By taking such actions you can manage your academics and short summer vacations period.which will not tremendously effect the education and academic of the students.
In conclusion,i believe thats short summer vacation with manageable tome table can leads the positive effect on both istude ts and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response makes a relevant attempt to discuss school holidays, but it only minimally answers the two questions. It focuses mainly on hot weather and the possible effect of holidays on syllabus coverage, without clearly explaining the broader value of long holidays—for example, rest, family time, or opportunities for travel and activities. The case for shorter holidays is also unclear: the essay mentions difficulty attending school in extreme heat, but does not explain how shorter breaks would address this or balance it against the value of a long break. The conclusion states a preference for shorter holidays, yet this position is not supported consistently. Develop one clear argument for each side and explain each with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an opening, a discussion of weather and schooling, a contrasting section, and a conclusion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the relationship between ideas is often unclear. For instance, the paragraph beginning “One of the major concern” moves from hot weather to syllabus coverage, while the next paragraph says bad weather affects health without clearly connecting this point to the argument about shorter holidays. The transition “on the other hand” signals contrast, but the contrast itself is not fully developed. Paragraph breaks and linking phrases are present, though punctuation and inconsistent capitalisation make the structure harder to read. Group each main argument in a focused paragraph and use clear links to show how examples support it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “syllabus,” “academic activities,” “extremely hot weather,” and “lesson plan,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “schools are turned off,” “swear weather conditions,” and “manage your academics.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “designe,” “ciuld,” and “tome table,” also reduce clarity. Some phrases are repeated, particularly references to “long term vacations” and “students.” Aim for more precise, natural expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, describe schools as “close” and refer to “extreme heat” or “maintaining academic progress.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay attempts some longer sentences using clauses and conditionals, such as “If students have long term vacations … they may face some difficulties,” but these structures are often faulty and the range remains limited. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in phrases such as “One of the major concern,” “Bad weather also effect,” and “short summer vacation … can leads.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent: several sentences run together, while the opening has missing spaces after full stops. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
