Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many nations, due to the excessive heat primary and secondary schools close for two or more months. Which has many perspectives behind this step. While i believe that these long school holidays are vital for the health of children. But these should be minimum because children could not complete their academics in short period of time.
To begin with, in many countries there is excessive hot weather in summer. So they give long holidays to school children who are studying in primary and secondary schools. This is necessary to protect the health of children because many pupils face health problems in summer due to hot weather. They sweat too much. In many schools, there are not air conditioners available. So pupils face sometime heatstrokes and even some ended with death. For example, in Pakistan the average temperature is 50C in summer. Which is not bearable for children. So government give long summer holidays for about 2 or 3 months.
On the other hand, these long summer holidays distrub the academic calendar of primary and secondary school pupils. After the long holidays, chirldren do not know what they have learnt in previous studies. Moreover, children do not pay much attention on their studies during the long holidays. So these holidays should made shorter or take some necessary steps toward the basic facilities like providing ACs to all children classes so they could not face any shortcomings to their studies during long holidays. However, if schools are not able to provide AC facility then they should short these long holidays and take online classes during the holidays so that chilrden could remain attached to their studies.
In conclusion, as it is necessary to protect the pupils from hot weather during summer but these holidays should be shorter to maintain the academic calendar of primary and secondary school children. They should provide air conditioners to all the classes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear overall view: long breaks protect children from extreme summer heat, while shorter breaks could help maintain learning. The Pakistan example and the point about pupils forgetting previous material support these ideas. However, the value of long holidays is developed mainly through heat-related health risks, and the case for shorter holidays is less fully explained: the response says children lose focus or forget, but gives little detail about how shorter breaks would improve learning. The suggestion of air conditioning and online classes is relevant, though it shifts toward solutions rather than fully developing the arguments for shorter holidays. Extend each main point with a specific consequence or example to make the discussion more balanced and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion. The progression from the health benefits of long holidays to their academic drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some stronger control through paragraphing and a logical sequence. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated sentence openings such as “So” and repeated references to “long holidays.” Some connections are also unclear, particularly the shift from shorter holidays to providing air conditioners and online classes. Use a wider range of linking methods and make the relationship between each recommendation and the argument explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “excessive heat,” “health problems,” “academic calendar,” and “basic facilities.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both health and education, but the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. For example, “excessive hot weather” is unnatural, “distrub” and “chirldren” are misspelled, and “short these long holidays” is not an idiomatic expression. Repetition of “children,” “holidays,” and “studies” also limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate phrases for school schedules and learning, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because many pupils face health problems” and a conditional structure beginning “if schools are not able to provide.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles sometimes make the reader pause. The opening “Which has many perspectives behind this step” is a fragment, while “these holidays should made shorter” is missing a verb form. There are also errors in “government give” and “they should short these long holidays.” Aim to form complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns. Practising accurate conditional and cause-and-effect sentences will help you express the ideas with greater control.
