Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been observe that in many countries schools close for one and two months or more that two months they remain close in summer holidays.Although some people believe that these holydays should be shorter.I firmly agree with that long holidays give the relaxation to the young learner.

The formost argumet to justify my stand is long holidays provide a value time to young learner with their family, help to improve mental health and also students engaged with usefull activities.for example when studend have long holidays they spent time with their parents and they give them chance to involve beneficial activities under their guidance. In this way their mental haelth and personal growth increased.Futhermore they go on trip with their parents and spent quaility times with them. They learn through experimets like it they have create a house or complete a painting they perform these activites under thier parents guidance and they also learn volenteer work and do it with their friends and family.

while the short holidays are put burdon on children beacuse they need much time to renew their energy.sleep patern distrption is also a big cause of the short holidays.they need much sleep to become refresh and energtic again.school sedual put burdon on children and they become depressed.as well as short holidays not give much time to children to understand their prents and also creat social inequality between the children.

In conclusion schools should sedual their time acoording to cylander and give enough time to the children to get energy after busy routine of school.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions and state a clear preference for long holidays: “I firmly agree” that they benefit young learners. The family time, rest, mental health and activities you mention are relevant, and examples such as painting or volunteering help illustrate their value. However, the discussion of shorter holidays is much less developed: you mainly claim they burden children and disrupt sleep, without explaining why shorter breaks might be beneficial, such as maintaining learning routines or reducing learning loss. Some claims, including that short holidays create social inequality, are introduced without explanation. To strengthen the response, develop both sides more evenly and make the relationship between each reason and the value of holiday length explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting long holidays, a paragraph about shorter holidays, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are joined together without clear explanation. For example, the long-holiday paragraph moves from family time to mental health, trips, experiments, painting and volunteering in quick succession. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” are useful, but some connections are unclear, and the paragraph beginning “while the short holidays” does not clearly distinguish arguments for shorter holidays from disadvantages of them. Group related points and use transitions to show how each idea supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mental health,” “personal growth,” “social inequality” and “volunteer work.” These choices show an effort to express more than basic opinions. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent, as in “holydays,” “usefull,” “studend,” “experimets” and “sedual,” and some combinations are unnatural, such as “provide a value time” and “sleep patern distrption.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, for example “spend quality time” and “maintain a sleep pattern.” Reusing a smaller set of accurate topic vocabulary would be more effective than attempting many uncertain forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional example beginning “when students have long holidays” and a sentence using “Although.” However, control is inconsistent, and complex sentences often contain several errors. Examples include “It has been observe,” “they remain close,” and “their mental health and personal growth increased,” where verb forms or tense are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also problematic: the opening runs several ideas together, while the paragraph about short holidays contains a series of statements with limited punctuation. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense. For instance, “Long holidays provide valuable time for young learners to spend with their families” gives one idea in a more controlled structure.
