Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, Primary and secondary schools close for about two months or more in summer holidays.

Overall, In many countries some schools close two months but some schools close more then two months because in some countries like asian countries they have more temperature then other countries.

Firstly, In some countries long school holidays are in summer due to fact in summer the heat were so strong that can cause health issues for students. Furthermore, Long school holidays are benefical for students so that they can enjoy summer and stay safe because in schools students were frustrated by studies, heat and all other things. In many countries. Moreover, In these long holidays students have homework which they have done it in these holidays So, that they can countinue there studies in home and they can do outdoor or indoor activites.

In my opinion, shorter holidays are more benefical for students because if the school is open after two month it will help students to complete there syllabus faster and they have time for revision. For Example, If we have a student of high IQ and other one has Low IQ . Low IQ student take more time for memorising and have to do more practice then the other. It is important to oversee this issue. Not every student is equal in intelligence. Some students have more IQ then other students. Some are more Intelligent then others and some are hard working. We have to see all of them and take balanced precaution for all of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both questions: you explain that long breaks can protect students from intense summer heat and give them time to rest, while your opinion favours shorter holidays because they allow more time to complete the syllabus and revise. However, the discussion is limited and several points are not fully explained. The comparison between students with different levels of ability is relevant, but its connection to shorter holidays needs clearer development. The opening overview about differences between countries does not directly answer the task, and the response ends without a developed conclusion. The required minimum was not met: the response contains 247 words, and the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each argument with a clear explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to reasons for long holidays and then to your view on shorter breaks. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover” help signal the sequence of points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion shifts from heat and student frustration to homework without explaining how these ideas connect. The final paragraph also repeats the point that students differ in ability rather than bringing the argument to a clear close. Some transitions are mechanical, and punctuation creates awkward breaks, as in “In many countries.” within the long-holiday paragraph. Group related ideas more carefully and use clear references and transitions to show how each point supports your answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “summer holidays,” “health issues,” “syllabus,” and “revision.” There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as students being “frustrated by studies” and having different levels of intelligence. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. For example, “more temperature” is not an appropriate way to describe hotter conditions, and “balanced precaution” does not clearly express the intended idea. Spelling errors such as “benefical,” “countinue,” and “activites” are noticeable. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing learning, rest, and school schedules, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “If we have a student…” and clauses explaining why holidays may be useful. The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For instance, “the heat were so strong that can cause health issues” has problems with agreement and clause structure, while “students have homework which they have done it” uses an unclear relative clause and an unnecessary pronoun. There are also inconsistent verb forms, as in “students were frustrated,” and sentence-boundary problems, including the fragment “In many countries.” Practise building accurate sentences with because, so that, and if, and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
