Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries, the primary and secondary schools provide two months summer holidays. Long holidays enable students to take part in other co curricular activities which increase their confidence. On the other hand, due to stay away from schools for a long time can make students study span shorter.

On the one hand, long holidays offer many advantages to students. They can enrolled in summer activities such as creative arts, sports, science competitions. If students have long holidays they have enough free time to explore other creative activities. They can take part in those activities which not just enhance their self confidence but also boost their practical knowledge. It also helps them in their future life espacially in higher education and career.

On the other hand, when students stayed at homes for a long time and didn't pay much attention to their study, their attention span for learning can be decreased. There are many students who lived in rural areas where summer activities not happened and parents also didn't have much time to focus on their children all the time, which create negative effect on children learning growth. That's why shorter holidays can be a good choice to tackle such students. When they spend much time in schools, they will stay focused and energetic. It also help them to develop consistent personality.

In conclusion, the larger holidays not only give enough time to students to take break from hectic routines, but also enables them to take part in other activities which helps them to boost their self confidence. However, the shorter holidays are also important in case of students who didn't pay much attention to their studies and have a negative effect due to large gap in their studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a relevant comparison: long holidays allow students to pursue activities beyond school, while shorter breaks may help them maintain study habits. The examples of creative arts, sports and science competitions make the benefits more concrete. However, the value of long holidays is developed more fully than the case for shorter ones. The claim that students in rural areas may lack access to summer activities is relevant, but the explanation of how shorter holidays would help them could be clearer and more specific. Some points, such as building a “consistent personality,” are asserted rather than explained. Develop each main argument with a clear cause-and-effect explanation or a specific example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and the ideas generally progress from opportunities during holidays to possible learning difficulties. This coherent arrangement meets the core expectations, while the paragraphing is appropriate. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. For example, “That's why shorter holidays can be a good choice to tackle such students” does not clearly explain the link between limited rural activities and the proposed solution. The conclusion also repeats several points from the introduction. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the argument it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “co curricular activities,” “practical knowledge,” “attention span,” and “higher education and career.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “study span,” “activities not happened,” and “consistent personality.” Spelling errors, including “espacially,” also reduce accuracy. Some key terms, such as “activities” and “students,” are repeated rather than replaced with precise alternatives. Build a stronger range of natural collocations and check spelling; this will make your arguments clearer and more fluent without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If students have long holidays…” and a relative clause in “activities which not just enhance…” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “They can enrolled” should use the base verb after “can,” while “which create negative effect” needs a verb form and agreement that fit the clause. “When students stayed at homes” also shifts tense awkwardly in a general statement. Review modal verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles and consistent present-tense forms. More accurate control of these structures would make the complex sentences easier to follow.
