Student answer (Band 6.0)
Long holidays during summer time for primary and summer schools are practiced in many countries over a long period of time. Many schools implement it in accordance to drastic weather conditions. However, it does affect the continuity of student's study curriculum which i will discuss in the following paragraph.
To begin with, long summer holidays in many countries are mostly dependent on weather conditions. Government tends to regulate these rules over schools and colleges for public safety. For example, in India many states with temperate zone prefer long holidays for students in summer due increased heat stroke cases across the state. Another major reason would be giving break to students from strict environment of school so that they can relax and get involved in other activities for better physical and mental health. For example, many students feel pressurized under strict guidance of school and avoid other extra curricular activities however when they get free from such pressure develop many other skills which is very important for their future career path.
However, many schools just practice it as a trend rather, which can affect overall development of student. For instance, one of my close friend's family stays in another country where summer are hardly long still they get long summer holidays, which according to me is unnecessary as it is not for public safety rather just to follow trend worldwide. Moreover, short holidays can add better outcomes if implemented correctly as long holidays tends to change student's routine resulting lack of same dedication and discipline. For example, many students get a habit of spending more time in playing and watching television which later creates disturbance in routine. Similarly, students loose the same eagerness to learn as many other habits were introduced to their routine. Short holidays can change this as holidays wouldn't be long enough to completely change the routine bit would be enough for relaxing and pursuing fee extra curricular activities for refreshment of mind.It cam create positive impact on education if implemented in future by many schools where weather and public safety is not a concern.
To conclude, long holidays in school can be utter necessary for many schools but whete it is not, i would highly advocate to implement short holidays instead so that it can help students get better result and success in life. Short holidays are better choice than long holidays for Schools.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear overall view: long breaks can be necessary where heat threatens safety, while shorter breaks may suit places without that concern. The examples about heatstroke in India and students’ routines support these points. This meets the task well, though the two sides are not equally developed. The value of time for rest and extracurricular activities is explained, but the argument for shorter holidays relies mainly on disrupted routines and reduced eagerness to learn; these claims would be stronger with clearer explanation or a specific example. The point that some schools follow a holiday pattern despite different weather is relevant, but its connection to the case for shorter breaks could be made more explicit. More balanced development would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the value of long holidays, a contrasting paragraph supporting shorter breaks, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the main direction. Within paragraphs, examples generally follow the claims they illustrate. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and the long paragraph beginning “However” contains several ideas that could be separated and ordered more carefully. For example, the shift from schools following a trend to students losing routine and then losing eagerness to learn needs clearer transitions. References such as “it” and “this” are sometimes vague. More precise linking and clearer paragraph-level grouping would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “public safety,” “physical and mental health,” “dedication and discipline,” and “extra curricular activities.” These expressions help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems limit precision: “summer and summer schools,” “temperate zone,” “practice it as a trend,” and “utter necessary” are not natural or accurate in context. There are also misspellings such as “loose” for “lose” and “whete” for “whether.” Some phrases repeat “long holidays” and “short holidays” without much variation. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread spelling; a broader range alone will not help unless it is used precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “so that,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Short holidays can change this as holidays wouldn't be long enough to completely change the routine.” However, there are some recurring errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Government tends to regulate these rules” needs a more appropriate article or plural subject, while “when they get free from such pressure develop” lacks a clear subject. The sentence beginning “Short holidays can add better outcomes” also becomes difficult to follow. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly in “mind. It cam.” Review sentence boundaries and check that each clause has a complete subject and verb.
