Student answer (Band 5.5)
In most of the countries, primary and high schools shut down for two months or more in summer weather . This long break can ehance learning pattern for students beacuse summer break break can freshenup their mind, and they will be more focused towards study beacuse continous academic pressure can exaust their mind. however more long holidays can also effect their capability of study and they will be leaset interested towards their academics.
Many schools offers two to three months of holidays during summer, this break is need of student for some relax time. In this break, they can learn other useful things like swimming, horse riding, cooking etc. There are many clubs which offer summercamps with variety of activites, student may enroll in those camps for best extra curricular activites. For example; Cricket, Football, Chess all these games are very crucial for physical fittnes and even good for critical thinking. Moreover, they can go to different places with families to explore differrent parts of world. This recreation activity plays major positive role in brain developement because through travelling we can learn different culters, languages and can taste different cuisines, these experience helps to grow childern in their personal and academic life.
However, there are some negative impacts of long break, vacations can be in short period of time like four to six weeks maybe because in long vacations, mostly students loose interest in their study, their interest increase towrds games, television and internet beacuse they mostly spends their holidays in these activites. Furthermore, Many students messes up their whole routine in breaks, they play games till late night, moves around with friends late at night, they mostly go to bed very late and woke up in noon, and this habbit will difficult to change even after school would open, in this way their whole discipline effected, this habbit will automatically effects their next whole day in school and they wil be least interested in study.
Most countries of world, closes school for two to three months, long vaccations ehance students learning, improve their physical and mental health, but other side of long holidays is very concering beacuse it also effects them in worse way, loosing interest in studies, rough schdule. Vacation is neccessary for better learning but should be in limited period of time so it does not effect students capabilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both questions: it explains the value of a long break through rest, camps, sport and travel, then argues for shorter holidays because students may lose interest and disrupt their routines. The examples of cricket, chess and learning about other cultures make the benefits relevant. However, the discussion is uneven: the case for long holidays is developed with several examples, while the argument for shorter breaks mainly repeats concerns about games, sleep and study habits. The opening and conclusion also make broad claims about learning and health without explaining them fully. A clearer, consistently stated position on the appropriate holiday length, supported by more balanced development of both sides, would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on benefits and drawbacks, and a concluding summary. This helps the reader follow the main contrast. Within paragraphs, however, ideas sometimes accumulate rather than progress in a clearly planned sequence. The long paragraph about recreation moves from camps and sport to travel without clearly signalling how each example supports the central point. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “However” and “Furthermore” are useful, but some connections are mechanical, and the conclusion repeats earlier points rather than synthesising them. Improve progression by giving each paragraph a clear controlling idea, grouping related examples, and using pronouns or transitions to make relationships between claims explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response attempts a relevant range of vocabulary, including “academic pressure,” “extra curricular activities,” “critical thinking,” “physical and mental health” and “discipline.” These choices help communicate the topic and show an effort to go beyond basic wording. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural combinations are frequent enough to distract: examples include “ehance,” “freshenup,” “loose interest,” “rough schdule” and “effect their capability.” Some words are also repeated, particularly “break,” “interest” and “activities,” limiting flexibility. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases. More precise choices such as “lose motivation to study” and “disrupt their daily routine” would make the argument clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to combine ideas using subordinate clauses and cause-and-effect structures, for example, “because through travelling we can learn different cultures” and the explanation of how late nights affect school routines. However, control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles or sentence boundaries. For instance, “Many schools offers” should use a plural verb, while “they mostly spends” has a subject–verb agreement problem; “their whole discipline effected” also lacks a correctly formed verb. Some sentences run together, making relationships harder to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time. Proofread specifically for subject–verb agreement, tense, and complete sentence structure.
