Student answer (Band 5.5)
As a matter of fact there are many schools which offers summer vacations. These holidays are given by the education ministery. Holidays have its own positive and negitive impacts.
To commence with the values of holidays we can say that, vacations are the biggest source of relaxation. It provides the physical and mentale refreshment. Mothers feel free from the heavy workload. Children take rest from their jam-packed routine. Parents get a fair relief as they do not have to book a taxi for their school goings. Parents and their offsprings take easy naps whenever they want. They feel themselves free from any sort of burden. There is no hurry to make breakfast.Family can plan long tours and trips. Most of the children stay at thier relitive's place. They do not follow up any sort of timetable. Whenever they find time they sit and study.
However I have a number of arguments infavour of shorter summer holidays. It has many adverse effects on child's behaviour. They get indolent. They forget how to be discepelined. They ruin their sleep. Excessive use of screen is a big cause. They do not proceed any timetable. Being passive, towords thier study thet get academic loss. They are not able to complete their comprehensive course outline. children take irrregular meals very often by stying at home. Parents feel they are overburdnised as they have to mange their kids in all the ways.
Authorities should take a notice. If they are offering long term holidays they must have a specific curriculum.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both questions: it describes benefits such as relaxation, family trips and time with relatives, then argues that long breaks can encourage inactivity, disrupt routines and create childcare pressures. These points are relevant, but several are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that children “forget how to be disciplined” would be stronger with a clear explanation or example of how a shorter break could help. The discussion also gives limited attention to the value of long holidays beyond rest and family convenience, and the final recommendation about a “specific curriculum” is not clearly connected to the arguments. Develop each main point and make the overall position more explicit to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on the benefits of long holidays, a contrasting paragraph on shorter holidays, and a brief concluding recommendation. “However” helps signal the shift between the two sides. Within paragraphs, though, ideas often appear as a list, such as the sequence about parents, naps, trips and relatives, without clear grouping or explanation of how they connect. Some linking phrases are awkward or repetitive, and the final two sentences do not fully summarise the discussion. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then order supporting details logically and use clear references to connect them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response attempts a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “physical and mental refreshment,” “jam-packed routine,” “adverse effects” and “academic loss.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow: “school goings,” “take easy naps,” “proceed any timetable” and “academic loss” are examples. Spelling errors such as “negitive,” “discepelined” and “overburdnised” are also noticeable. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but the frequent inaccuracies and repeated basic wording limit precision. Prefer familiar, accurate expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences use simple structures, with some attempts to add clauses, but control is inconsistent. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “many schools which offers,” an unclear pronoun in “It provides,” and missing or incorrect articles and plurals in phrases such as “on child's behaviour” and “Excessive use of screen.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “There is no hurry to make breakfast.Family can plan…” should be separated and punctuated correctly. These errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add controlled complex sentences using clauses such as “because” and “although.”
