Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries , primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in summer holidays . Nowadays , it is often argued that in many countries , primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer . I partially agree with this because in summer weather is very severe that child could not went to school easily because if thry travel in hottest season it is dangerous for their health . But it is not in the favour of students ,therefore in this kind of days parents played an important role and become itself a instructure for their childs and ask them to do work on home . The long school holidays is beneficial for those students who are hard worker and makes timetable they do their work on time . But the dull person who do thier work in school very slowly this type of students waste most of their time .So , long school holidays play a harmful impact on many children . In favour of short school leaves I argued that weak students waste most of their time and at the time of result its harmful effects to be seen . In the light of these aspects my arguments are in the favour of shorter school holidays . It is beneficial for dull students who donot do their work independentaly . In conclusion , I strongly believes that shorter school holidays are in favour of students .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions by discussing why long holidays may help hardworking students and why shorter breaks could benefit students who need more support. Your position is ultimately clear in the conclusion, where you favour shorter holidays, but it is not consistently stated: “I partially agree” is unclear because the task asks you to assess the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones. The points about hot weather and parents supervising work are relevant, but they need fuller explanation and specific examples. The response also contains 214 words, below the required 250; this limits the space available to develop both sides. Organise the response around the two questions and explain each reason more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some paragraphing, and the response moves from an opening position to discussion of long holidays, shorter holidays and a conclusion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded together and the relationship between them is not always clear. For example, the opening shifts from the danger of hot weather to parents becoming instructors without explaining how this supports your position. Linking phrases such as “therefore,” “So,” and “In the light of these aspects” are used, but they do not consistently make the reasoning clearer, and some points are repeated, especially that weaker students waste time. Use one paragraph for each question, connect each reason to its consequence, and make references such as “this kind of days” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “summer holidays,” “timetable,” “independently,” and “harmful impact.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward or unclear. For instance, “dull person” is not an appropriate way to describe a student who needs support, while “short school leaves” is not a natural expression for school holidays. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “thier,” “instructure,” and “childs.” These issues sometimes make the reader work to understand your point. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “But.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “in summer weather is very severe that child could not went to school,” where the clause structure and verb form are incorrect, and “I strongly believes,” where the subject and verb do not agree. Other errors include “parents played” and “this type of students waste,” which show inconsistent tense and agreement. Punctuation spacing and comma use are also uneven. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a clear supporting clause, then check verb forms, articles, plurals and subject–verb agreement.
