Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary era, it is often argued that in many nations the schools gives holiday for two months or more than that to primary and secondary schools pupils. From my perspective, i strongly thinks that the holiday are worth it if the students spend it by improving them. But, this too long holidays can be become boring for the pupils. However, the reasons for them will be explain in the subsequent paragraphs.

One of the key reasons why longer holidays are worth it. Firstly they can pursue their hobbies. To detail it out, from a teenage age the individuals have lot of hobbies in their life but pursuing them from a small age can be very beneficial if they have to built their carrier in that particular hobby such as the sports play like football and cricket or indoor games such as chess. In all these games the students can go till the international level to represent their school. So, in the two month holiday they can join classes for improve their hobby and if sadly they are not capable for that sports or game so they will become aware in that holidays and focus on becoming more better. Secondly, In this holidays pupils can go for a vacations with their families to another country in these days and rejuvenates themselves and taking relaxation for their hectic schedules and gets enough times to spend quality time with their family member and getting ready for joining the school with relax mind that help them to focus better.

Despite the arguments in favor of longer holidays, there are some points for shorter holidays benefits. Begins with students get bored too early. To explain it further, although holidays are for relaxation but this much long holidays can be very boring for students and they missed the school life again. 20 to 30 days holiday is much enough for students to relax because if there is too long holiday so students will become monotonous and they ruin their schedule such as getting up in early morning, doing homework and much more.

Conclusively, in some schools the summer holidays are for 2 month or more than that. So i believe holidays are worth it if students spend them by improving them by pursuing their hobbies and spending quality time with families. But i also believe that holidays should be for 20 to 30 days because too long holiday can be become very boring for student and they loose to follow their habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and give a clear overall view: long holidays can support hobbies and family time, while shorter breaks may prevent boredom and disruption to routines. The examples of sports and chess help make the value of free time relevant. However, the benefits of shorter holidays receive less development than those of longer holidays: boredom and lost routines are mentioned, but the response does not explain further how shorter breaks might support learning or make the school year more effective. Some claims in the first body paragraph, such as students reaching international level, are also asserted rather than clearly linked to the holiday period. Develop each side more evenly and explain the consequences of your examples to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from hobbies to family relaxation and then to the case for shorter holidays is generally easy to follow. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward: “One of the key reasons… Firstly” is not a complete sentence, and “Begins with” does not connect the next idea grammatically. The long second body paragraph also combines several points, making the shift from hobbies to family holidays less clear. Use complete topic sentences, divide distinct ideas where useful, and make references such as “this holidays” clearer so readers can follow the argument smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “pursuing their hobbies,” “rejuvenates themselves,” “hectic schedules,” and “monotonous,” which helps discuss leisure and routine. There are also attempts at more specific examples, such as football, cricket, and chess. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make the meaning less natural, as in “built their carrier,” “become more better,” and “loose to follow their habits.” Repetition of “holiday,” “students,” and “boring” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check word forms and spelling; this will make your ideas clearer and more precise without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “although” and “if,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and articles remain. For example, “the schools gives” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “I strongly thinks” and “the reasons for them will be explain” show errors in verb form. The sentence beginning “One of the key reasons why longer holidays are worth it” is incomplete, and several sentences join too many clauses without clear control. Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement and verb forms, then use complex clauses in shorter, more controlled structures.
