Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify relevant benefits of long holidays, including rest after exams and time with family, and you mention a possible drawback: children may forget lessons and need time to catch up. However, the response only minimally addresses the task. The value of long holidays is sketched rather than explained, and the argument for shorter holidays is not clearly developed; the final point about teachers spending five or six weeks repeating material is difficult to interpret. The Pakistan village example could support the family or cultural benefit, but it needs a clear explanation. The response is also 120 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain and support both parts. Develop each side with reasons and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce the topic, use “secondly” to add another benefit, and signal a contrast with “on the other hand.” These markers show an awareness of how ideas can be connected. However, the response is largely one continuous sequence, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the introduction, benefits, and case for shorter holidays. Several ideas run together, and links such as “thus” do not make the relationship between the points clear. The final sentence also shifts from children forgetting lessons to teachers repeating material without explaining the connection. Use separate paragraphs for each part of the question and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “educational systems,” “exams,” “family,” and “lessons,” and you try to express ideas about rest and learning opportunities. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make several phrases difficult to understand, such as “significient long holidays,” “mind and body are claim,” and “different learning appportunity.” Some expressions appear to be intended as “relax,” “calm,” or “learning opportunities,” but the inaccurate forms obscure your meaning. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise wording for the disadvantages, such as loss of learning or forgetting previously taught material, would also help communicate your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You make an effort to form connected sentences and use sequencing and contrast, for example in the clauses beginning “secondly” and “on the other hand.” However, sentence structures are very limited, and errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles frequently make the meaning unclear. For instance, “Long summer holiday are common tradition” has problems with number and article use, while “they are spend with time in family” has an incorrect verb construction. The long opening sequence also lacks clear punctuation, making it hard to see where one idea ends and another begins. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clear clauses using “because,” “so,” and “although.”
