Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address the value of long holidays by mentioning family trips and time for hobbies, such as dance, singing, swimming and sports. However, the second part of the question—arguments in favour of shorter holidays—is not answered, so the response only partially fulfils the task. The ideas that are included are also brief: the example of travelling abroad is asserted rather than explained, and the benefits of pursuing hobbies are not developed with a specific illustration. The conclusion repeats that holidays are important but does not clarify or balance the two sides. The response is 193 words, below the required 250. To improve, discuss at least one reason for shorter breaks, such as maintaining learning routines, and develop each point with explanation and an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main points. However, progression is limited because both body paragraphs support long holidays, while the task also asks for the case for shorter holidays. Some links are mechanical or unclear, and the first body paragraph shifts from long holidays to “A long weekend,” which makes the relationship between the ideas confusing. The conclusion begins with “Conclusion,” but mostly repeats the opening claim. Organise the essay around the two questions, use clear topic sentences for each side, and connect examples explicitly to the point they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “passion,” “academic,” “hobbies,” and “culture,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “refresment,” “vacation” where “holidays” would be more consistent, and “a long holidays.” There are also spelling errors, including “imporrtant,” “thier,” and “furture,” which reduce accuracy. Phrases such as “a big point for childrens life” are difficult to interpret naturally. Build a more precise range for discussing education and leisure, and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “mental and physical well-being” rather than “physically and mentally refreshments.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “For example, If they get more vacation,” and the sentence explaining that children are busy during school time. However, these structures are often faulty, and many sentences rely on simple patterns joined with “and” or “so.” Errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries occur frequently: “A long weekend actually allow,” “a long holidays,” and “without holidays students are bored and not concentrate” are examples. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and missing spaces after full stops. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using controlled clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and sentence punctuation.
