Student answer (Band 5.0)

This issue of school holidays has raised several questions in recent times. This essay will adress the longer holidays from school in summer and then discuss on what purpose it is necessary.

Regarding the first question the primary factor is that primary and secondary schools close for two months or more for summer break. To elobrate, summer break palys a vital role in student life.It is recovery time for both teacher and student after an intensive academic year. In this time period they explore thierselves as well as their surroundings and get a new hobby or an interest .Longer breaks let them to travel and exploure around the world.Consequently, they spend useful time outside the classroom. Therefore, it is clear that longer hoildays are benifical.

Turning to the second point,i belive that short holidays are more useful because students may forget less material and easily get back to their regualr routine.Weather long break can burdenizaed the woking family who can take extend time off. Thus this highlight the impotance of shorter break.

In conclued with regard to the holidays play crucial role in students lives. It is evident that, long term of school holidays make students clumsy and useless. At the same time, short holidays are benefical specally for primary and secondary school student, they let them engage toward their studies and also let them free for awhile without distraction.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: the first body paragraph gives reasons for long holidays, including recovery after the academic year, exploring interests and travelling; the next argues that shorter breaks help students retain material and suit working families. However, these points are brief and are not supported with a specific example, and the conclusion introduces the unclear claim that long holidays make students “clumsy and useless,” which does not follow from the earlier discussion. Your position on which arrangement is preferable is also not consistently clear. The response is 215 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; the 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop each argument with explanation or an example, and make your overall view consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two sides, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “Regarding the first question” and “Turning to the second point” help signal the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several linking expressions feel mechanical or do not clearly connect the ideas, as in “Consequently” and “Thus this highlight.” The conclusion also shifts to a new judgement rather than clearly summarising the arguments. Improve the flow by linking each reason to its explanation, using clear references, and ensuring the conclusion follows the position established in the body.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “intensive academic year,” “regular routine,” “working family,” and “distraction.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “adress,” “elobrate,” “burdenizaed,” and “clumsy and useless”; the last phrase is also an imprecise description of the effect of long holidays. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “explore themselves” and “engage toward their studies.” Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Longer breaks let them to travel and exploure around the world” and the sentence explaining that students may forget less material and return to their routine. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “This essay will adress the longer holidays … and then discuss on what purpose it is necessary” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “In conclued with regard to the holidays play crucial role” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, such as “play crucial role” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate sentence patterns and proofread each sentence for complete clauses and punctuation.
