Student answer (Band 5.0)

Several countries, there are have a school culture such as primary schools or secondary schools for students to rest at home close for two months or more in the summer break holidays. There are argruments the value of long school holidays and shorter school holidays. In my opinion, i believe that the long school break is good for students mental health.

Nowadays, most of students do not have much time stay at home or has a less time with their family. In modern live people have to be smart to get a bright future, which is most of parents always send their kids to school and all of student spend all of their time at school more than home. In a years they have a holidays long term once a year is summer break about 2 months. A long term of holidays is the time for them to go out to get new experiences with familys member. For example, summer break most people do not go to work or go to school either, which can explore new thing around the world with their family not care about anything.

On the other hand, many people arguments about the short term holidays. The short term holidays it happen during the end of first semester, which is they only have one month or more than that to stay at home. during that time, most parents have to go for a work and they can only spend times with each other at evening. For instance, most students may spend time with their friend such as go to playground.

In conclusion, every school have a summer break for student to relax their brain or can spend more time with family becuase in this generation all students need to have education to improve themself.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a relevant opinion that long holidays benefit students’ mental health and family relationships, and you include examples such as spending time with family or friends. However, the task is only partly addressed: the value of long holidays receives more attention, while the case for shorter holidays is not clearly explained as an argument in their favour. The paragraph about shorter breaks mainly describes parents being at work and students meeting friends, without showing why shorter holidays might benefit learning, routine, or childcare. Your position is stated in the introduction, but the conclusion shifts to education generally rather than reinforcing a developed comparison. Develop both sides with clear reasons and specific supporting examples. The response meets the stated length requirement; nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the other hand,” and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from parents’ priorities to school attendance and then to family experiences without consistently connecting these points. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or do not show the intended relationship, as in “which can explore new thing around the world.” The contrast between the two sides is also not fully developed, and the conclusion does not clearly bring the comparison together. To improve, give each paragraph one central claim, order its explanation and example logically, and use clear references and transitions rather than relying mainly on basic signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “mental health,” “summer break,” “experiences,” and “education,” and the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make meaning less clear. Examples include “school culture” for the school-holiday arrangement, “a bright future” in a context where the point is not fully expressed, and “go for a work.” There are also spelling and word-form errors such as “argruments,” “familys,” and “themself.” These issues fit a response with a basic but usable vocabulary range, rather than flexible and precise expression. Build topic vocabulary around learning, rest, routines, and family care, and check collocations and spelling when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “because,” and the overall meaning is sometimes recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms can make the reader work to understand your ideas. For example, “Several countries, there are have a school culture” has an unclear structure, while “most of students do not have much time stay at home” lacks necessary grammatical elements. Agreement is also inconsistent in “every school have” and “all of student spend.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Proofread for subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete verb patterns.
