Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, primary and secondary schools are closed for two or more months during summer holidays. Although, many people argue that the length of holidays should be decreased to increase the duration of time available to children to learn education. However, I believe two to three months of break are valuable for children development and recreational purpose.
There are compelling reasons why these vecations are beneficial for children improvement. Firstly, this time can be successfully utilized to learn new skills, doing short learning courses. Secondly, after attending classes back to back followed by final and mid term exams, evening tuition classes. This time will allow them to invest in themselves to learn a new skill through online platforms or physically joining institues to learn them. Thus, make the students more confident, experienced in their field. The students need sometime to recharge themselves from the punctualed and full of rule regulations school life to visit holiday and recreational places like parks, museums and other places like their relatives to refresh their minds.
However, some people are in favour of shorter school holidays because this will enchance their productivity, creditability and academic marks. During these summer break, children's studies will be effected, as they will forget their school lessons and their study routine will also be disturbed due to extra playtime and other recreational activities, which will impact their results in future.
In conclusion, there are some benefits of shorter school holidays as they somehow influence their studies. Nevertheless, the long school holidays are more valuable for them, as thay boost their confidence, aid in the personal development and grooming.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear overall view: long breaks support children’s development and recreation, while shorter breaks may help preserve academic progress. Relevant reasons include learning new skills, recovering after exams, and the risk of forgetting lessons. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case for long holidays receives several points, but some are unclear or overlap, and the shorter-holiday argument is largely limited to disrupted routines and lower marks. Explain the mechanisms more fully—for example, how shorter breaks could support continuity of learning—and add a specific example to illustrate one of your claims. This would make the response more fully developed and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting long holidays, a paragraph presenting the case for shorter holidays, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. At times, though, the links feel mechanical, and the second supporting point is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into one sentence. The transition from exams and tuition to learning skills and then visiting recreational places would be clearer if these ideas were separated and connected explicitly. Use pronouns and references carefully, too, so it is always clear whether “this time” refers to the holiday or another period.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “recreational activities,” “academic marks,” “personal development,” and “online platforms.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt more specific expressions such as “recharge themselves.” However, inaccurate spelling and word choice sometimes weaken clarity or naturalness: “vecations,” “enchance,” and “institues” are misspelled, while “learn education,” “punctualed,” and “creditability” are unsuitable in context. Some phrases also sound unnatural, such as “visit holiday and recreational places.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, for example, “take a break from a highly structured school routine” and “improve academic performance.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and a subordinate clause beginning “as” in the paragraph about shorter holidays. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors make sentences awkward or obscure the relationships between ideas. For example, “Although, many people argue…” is not correctly punctuated or structured, and “Secondly, after attending classes… evening tuition classes” is an incomplete sentence. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence construction in “two to three months of break are valuable” and “This time will allow them to invest in themselves to learn.” Aim to make each sentence complete, then check subject–verb agreement and article use.
