Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify some possible benefits of a long summer break: children can rest, pursue hobbies, visit different places and return with a changed mood. You also suggest that daily study without activities may be tiring. However, the response does not clearly answer both questions: the value of long holidays is only briefly mentioned, and the arguments for shorter holidays are not explained. The comparison with private schools and the government-school example are unclear, and there is no developed position or supporting example. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough relevant explanation to fulfil the task. Develop each side separately and explain how the reasons support your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to connect ideas, using phrases such as “moreever” and “for example,” and the response stays broadly focused on school holidays. However, the ideas are presented as one continuous sequence rather than in clear paragraphs, and the progression is difficult to follow. The relationship between “better than private school,” children’s rest, and the later point about government schools is not made clear. Several points appear abruptly, including illness and lack of focus, without explanation of how they connect to holiday length. Organise the response into an introduction, a paragraph on long holidays, a paragraph on shorter holidays, and a conclusion. Use linking phrases to show contrast and cause more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some relevant vocabulary, including “hobby,” “activities,” “studies,” “fever” and “headache,” which shows an effort to discuss children’s experiences and schooling. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations make the meaning difficult to understand, such as “they have changed their mood,” “summer school days is had,” and “they are enjoy and studie.” Spelling errors such as “belive,” “chlidran” and “diffrent” also reduce clarity. Build a more accurate set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe children as “rested,” say they “take up a hobby,” or explain that a long break can “reduce academic continuity.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts to express reasons with “because” and an example with “for example.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to interpret, and control of verb forms and agreement is weak. For instance, “children has became a rest” does not form a clear grammatical clause, while “they are enjoy and studie” uses incorrect verb forms. There are also problems with articles, plurals and punctuation, as in “for two month” and the frequent missing sentence boundaries. Practise building complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses using “because,” “while” and “although.”
