Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both questions in a basic way: you mention relaxation, recovery from academic stress, activities and family time as benefits of long holidays, then briefly state that shorter breaks can help students maintain study habits. However, the response is only 197 words, below the required 250, and this limits how fully you can explain and support your ideas. The value of long holidays receives more attention, while the case for shorter holidays is largely asserted rather than explained. Your position is also unclear: “I strongly agree with this statement” does not specify which holiday pattern you support, and the conclusion says both options are beneficial without resolving this. Develop each side with reasons or examples and state your view clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about long holidays, a paragraph beginning “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression between ideas is limited: the second body paragraph starts with family relationships, then shifts to study routines and health without explaining how these points connect or how they support shorter holidays. Linking phrases such as “To commence with” and “On the other hand” are used, but they do not compensate for unclear relationships between sentences. Paragraphing also does not clearly separate the two sides of the question. Group related points, use topic sentences that identify each paragraph’s purpose, and connect examples explicitly to the main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “academic stress,” “quality time,” “study routine,” and “learning new skills.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss education and students’ lives. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “strenghning,” “devlop,” “focuss,” and “realation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “in important role play” and “a swimming classes.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “maintain academic progress” or “strengthen family relationships” would help express your ideas clearly without relying on repeated general words like “benefit” and “students.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and more complex forms, including “although” in the conclusion and “not only…but also” in the body. However, the range is limited, and complex structures are often incomplete or inaccurate. For example, “long school holidays valuable several reason” lacks a clear verb and has problems with number, while “students get enough time ti relax and recover a academic stress” contains errors in the infinitive and article use. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the opening, where several sentences run together after full stops. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, plurals and punctuation. Greater accuracy in basic structures will make your meaning easier to follow.
