Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, primary and secondary schools shutting for two months or additional in summer holidays. In this essay, we will discuss the value of long holidays and the arguments in favour of short holidays.
To begin with, holidays plays a vital role in childrens life because these are very crucial for their happiness and for their interest in families. During holidays they can feel relax and get freedom of their studies. In addition, they can visit historical places or mountains if they have some holidays and can explore various type of things and communicate with different type of individuals. They can maintain their physical activities such as playing cricket or footbal provi them lot of benefits.
On the other hand, there are numerous arguments in favour of shorter school holidays because more school holidays can affect badly on student studies. For instance, more holidays gives children a chance to relaxing. Consequently, more relaxation can affect to their body mantainance and also get loss in studies. More holidays insist childrens to forget their studies and play video games, watch tv or many things related to that habits.
In conclusion, by focusing on both arguments, we have well knowed that more holidays can affect primarily on studies and make children more relaxing. Consequently, its my humble request to government of our country that they need to focus on school managements and do not provide more holidays to childrens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions: the first body paragraph gives benefits such as family time, visiting places and taking part in physical activities, while the second presents reasons for shorter breaks, including maintaining study habits. However, the discussion is limited and several points are unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the claim that holidays are important for children’s “interest in families” is not developed, and the argument that more holidays harm students’ studies needs a clearer explanation or example. Your conclusion gives a preference for fewer holidays, but this position is not fully established through the essay. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum. Develop each main point with a reason and a relevant example to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing sides, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are listed rather than clearly connected. In the second body paragraph, the link between relaxation, physical maintenance and loss of study habits is unclear, and “Consequently” does not establish a convincing relationship between the points. Some references, such as “these” and “that habits,” are also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it, using linking expressions only where they accurately show the relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historical places,” “physical activities,” “school holidays” and “studies.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning awkward. Examples include “interest in families,” “feel relax,” “body mantainance” and “more holidays insist childrens to forget.” Spelling errors such as “footbal” and “mantainance” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and precise expressions rather than translating ideas word for word. For instance, you could describe holidays as giving children “time to spend with their families” and say that long breaks may “disrupt their learning routine.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer sentences, including the sentence beginning “During holidays,” and use basic structures to present examples and consequences. However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and agreement sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “holidays plays” should have a plural verb, while “In many countries, primary and secondary schools shutting” is not a complete sentence. Other problems include “more holidays gives” and “they can feel relax.” There are also errors with possessives and plurals, as in “childrens life.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas with clauses such as “because” and “which,” checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
