Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is believed that education is a powerful weapon for every individual and child in the world. In today's world, several countries the primary and secondary school are cosed for a month or more in summer vacations. The duration of summer holidays in some countries has become a major topic as a comparison to winter vacations. The holidays are given fewer weeks or a months in summer vacations.
On the one hand, students and parents would like to spend time together. They also like to visit their village, to explore new places, meeting their relatived and cousins. In vacations, they makes sweet memories. Additinally, the parents can spend more time with their children. However, parents who work 365 days have difficulty in taking care of their children due to their work. Subsequently, this becomes a problem and also hampers the children's education.
On the other hand, during extendend summer breks, the children have time to visit relatives and to make friends which helps to maintain their good relationships. Consequently, in long summer holidays, children should not lose focus in their studies. Thus, shorter school breaks help the students to maintain concerntration in academic. So that ,students also focus on their studies themselves. They do not misuse their time in academic and also learn creative eork when they have a free time.
In conclusion, the value of long school holidays lies in strengthening the bond between parents and children. In my view building a strong relationships and education are more important in our life. In addition, school should give fewer holidays for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response recognises both sides of the question: it gives reasons for long holidays, such as family visits and stronger relationships, and argues that shorter breaks can help students stay focused. The conclusion also states a preference for fewer holidays. However, the task is only partially addressed because the value of long holidays and the case for shorter ones are not explained in enough depth. For example, the claim that breaks “hamper the children's education” is introduced but not clarified, and the point about maintaining concentration is not supported with a specific example. Develop each main reason by explaining its effects and make your overall position clearer and more consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response has an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. These signposts help readers identify the two sides. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and some ideas are repeated rather than developed. The second body paragraph, for instance, first describes relationship-building during long holidays and then shifts to the benefits of shorter breaks without a clear transition. Linking phrases such as “Consequently,” “Thus,” and “So that” are sometimes used mechanically or do not show the intended relationship between ideas. Group related points more clearly, use references such as “these breaks” precisely, and ensure each paragraph advances one main argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a limited but relevant range of vocabulary, including “strengthening the bond,” “maintain concentration,” and “creative work.” These phrases show an effort to discuss family relationships and learning. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the message difficult to follow, as in “relatived,” “extendend summer breks,” and “creative eork.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “maintain concerntration in academic” and “do not misuse their time in academic.” Use accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; for example, explain whether shorter breaks support “academic focus” or “regular study habits.” More precise collocations would make the arguments clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including “However, parents who work 365 days have difficulty in taking care of their children due to their work.” Nevertheless, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation can make some ideas hard to understand. Examples include “several countries the primary and secondary school are cosed,” “They makes sweet memories,” and “In conclusion … building a strong relationships.” The fragment “So that, students also focus…” also interrupts the sentence structure. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check singular/plural agreement and article use. Breaking longer ideas into accurate sentences will improve clarity.
