Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many nations, schools have been giving longer holidays where many parents have been concern about the longer holidays which directly affect in the education of the childeren but holidays could help children know themself and do better eventhough it also have some drawbacks.

Firstly, many nations have been giving longer holidays in the summer due the the weather condition. In many countries temperature rise so rapidly that doing regular works is very hard which could harm the health and productivity of the children. Many schools have also introduced hilistic education where students get more holiday not to enjoy but to have self time where many children learn new skills which help them in the near future where they can not just learn daily wroks like cooking, cleaning also can learn sports, programming and many more where they can improve their personal skill which could be used in their carrer. As schools help students learn theoritical skill but having breaks inorder to know themself and learn practical skill is better and could prepare them for better future.

Secondly, children are the people who can be shaped according if kept in supervision. There are many parents whotend to be busy due to many reason which leads the children to have free time without any supervision which leads them to waste their time waching movie, playing games rather than having something productive which makes a major drawback of longer holidays. In my country, Nepal government planned to have five days schools which led dissatisfaction of many parents as many students just waste their time playing games rather than focusing in activities which could help them in near future. So for parents who cannot give time to their children could face many problems.

In conclusion, having longer holidays could help students grow their skills if kept in supervision and help them know themselves but if parents are busy or children are not given proper time and guidance it could lead them to waste their time rather than any knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: the first body paragraph explains how long breaks can support rest, practical learning and skill development, while the second presents the concern that children may spend unsupervised time unproductively. The Nepal example gives the discussion a relevant personal context. However, the value of long holidays is developed more fully than the arguments for shorter holidays, and the latter are mainly framed as a problem with long breaks rather than explaining directly how shorter breaks could benefit learning or families. Some claims, such as holidays being necessary because of high temperatures, would also benefit from clearer support. Develop both sides more evenly and state your position more explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion that returns to the central contrast. Ideas generally progress from the benefits of breaks to the risks of unsupervised free time. However, several sentences contain many linked points, especially the first body paragraph, making the relationships between ideas harder to follow. Repeated use of “where” also creates unclear links, as in the discussion of practical skills and future careers. Use shorter sentences to separate explanations and examples, and make references such as “it” or “which” clearly point to a specific idea. This would make the progression smoother and less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “supervision,” “productivity,” “practical skill,” and “personal skill,” and these choices help communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “holistic education” and “programming.” However, noticeable spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations reduce precision—for example, “childeren,” “hilistic,” “theoritical,” and “waching,” as well as “learn daily works.” Some key words, particularly “help” and “skills,” are repeated. Check spelling carefully, choose more natural collocations, and vary repeated vocabulary so that your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “which,” “where,” and “if,” and you use conditional meaning in the conclusion. However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “many parents have been concern” needs a correct adjective or verb form, while “it also have some drawbacks” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence also joins several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Aim for one main idea per sentence, then add subordinate clauses only when their relationship is clear. Review agreement and verb forms, and use punctuation to separate complete thoughts.
