Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, schools such as primary and secondary off for two months or more in the summer holidays. It is basically to protect students from extreme environment conditions; However, shorther school holidays give student a break, and also praparation for midexams.

On the one hand, long summer holidays are being given to protect the learners from though envirnomental conditions. As we know during summer the temperature exceeds, due to which the environment becomes warmer, and it stay the same during summer. We also know students at primary and secondary level are mostly childern, for them tolararting such environmental condition is difficult. So to protect them from this situation mostly schools at primary and secondary level give long holidays.

On the other hand, shorter school holidays being given for the relaxation of the students. studying at school whole year, and doing task can be exasthing, for the purpose to send time at homes or traveling somewhere could be tharaputic. Which is very benafitcial for student mental health. Furthermore, short holidays are given for the purpose of preparation for midexams. This is most valiable time for preparation, for example if a student has difficulties in understanding a topic at school. For this student studying at home will be very affective because of quit envirnoment and acess to facalities such as internet, smartphone through these mediums it will be a chance to improve, or cler the concept.

To conclude, holidays at schools are benafitcial because it protects students from tough envienomental conditions such as extreme heat during summer. While, it is valiable for preparatiuon of midexams and for relaxation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you explain that long summer breaks protect children from extreme heat, and you give relaxation and exam preparation as reasons for shorter breaks. These are relevant ideas, and the example of a student revisiting a difficult topic adds some support. However, the response only partially develops the task. The value of long holidays is largely reduced to weather protection, while the case for shorter holidays would benefit from a clearer explanation of how shorter breaks help learning or maintain routine. Your position is also not fully clear: the conclusion lists benefits of both arrangements without indicating how they relate or which arguments you find more persuasive. Develop each point with a specific consequence or example. (The response contains 256 words; 9 words copied from the prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two sides of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links feel mechanical or incomplete. For example, “Furthermore” introduces exam preparation, but the connection between shorter holidays and midterm exams is not explained. The sentence beginning “studying at school whole year” is a fragment, which interrupts the flow, and “Which is very beneficial…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding idea. Use complete sentences and make each paragraph’s ideas build in a clear sequence, with references that show how one point follows from another.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “environmental conditions,” “relaxation,” “mental health,” and “preparation.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to read. Examples include “shorther,” “exasthing,” “benafitcial,” and “affective,” while “the temperature exceeds” is incomplete because it does not say what the temperature exceeds. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “send time at homes” and “clear the concept.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for education and holidays. More precise wording would help you express the ideas without relying on repeated general terms such as “students” and “holidays.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including sentences with “because,” “for example,” and “which,” but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. The opening, “schools such as primary and secondary off,” lacks a complete verb structure. Other examples include “it stay the same,” “shorter school holidays being given,” and “students at primary and secondary level are mostly children,” where agreement, verb forms, or sentence construction need attention. There are also fragments, such as “studying at school whole year, and doing task can be exhausting” and “Which is very beneficial…”. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries when proofreading.
