Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, summer holidays for primary and high school students are declared as eight weeks or more. In my opinion, longer school holidays for the children has some benefits than shorter holidays.

Fristly, long break for students in summer holidays are has more advantages for the students. It helps to learn new skills whatever they interested for students who are utilizing their time. In summer gap some of decided to went classes for which includes sports, dance, and musical instruments etc. Long summer gap benefits the students to learn in what they are interested. Secondly, in summer time it also has high temperature than normal days, so it is better for the students in shelter instead of out that means school. Long school gap helps to go some long trip for summer vacation.

Moreover, some schools are sheduled only short gap for students in summer. Shorter holidays for the schools are effect for students in learning cultural skills in their leisure time. Reason for high temperature in summer, the government announced for school to declare holidays. If conducting classes instead of holidays is not good for students health.

In conclusion, long summer holidays for students are benefit to learn new cultural skills, whatever they intersted and it also has advantage to plan long trips. Instead of long holidays, some schools reduce their holidays into shorter that may effect for the students due to high degrees and it also reduce the time of the students to learn sports and other interested activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear preference for longer holidays in the opening and conclusion, and you identify relevant benefits such as learning sports or music and taking longer trips. However, the task asks for the value of long holidays and arguments in favour of shorter ones, and the second part is not properly developed. The paragraph beginning “Moreover” mainly argues against holding classes in hot weather, rather than explaining why shorter breaks could be beneficial—for example, by reducing learning loss or helping students retain routines. Several points are repeated, and the benefits are asserted rather than supported with specific examples. To strengthen the response, explain both sides directly and develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example; also make your position on shorter holidays more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” also signal movement between points. However, progression within and between paragraphs is often unclear: the paragraph introduced as an argument for shorter holidays shifts to the heat-related case for school closures, which does not support that focus. Some ideas are repeated in the conclusion, and links such as “that means school” do not make the relationship between ideas clear. Organise the body around one distinct reason per paragraph, use transitions that accurately show the relationship between points, and make references explicit so the reader can follow the argument without having to infer connections.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “summer holidays,” “cultural skills,” “sports,” “musical instruments” and “high temperature,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “long summer holidays” and “students.” A number of word choices and collocations are unnatural or unclear, such as “declared as eight weeks,” “in shelter instead of out” and “learn in what they are interested.” Spelling errors, including “Fristly,” “sheduled” and “intersted,” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural expressions for discussing education and holiday schedules, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, say “last for eight weeks” and “pursue their interests” rather than the less natural phrases used here.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the response is generally understandable, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction, as in “long break … are has more advantages,” “some of decided to went classes” and “Shorter holidays … are effect.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, while some clauses are difficult to interpret, such as “whatever they interested for students who are utilizing their time.” These problems sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses using correct verb forms. Proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb, agreement, and complete grammatical structure.
