Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is argued that many countries ' primary and secondary schools close for two months only or more in the summer holidays , however two months still enough for students to spend great holidays and play , in my opinion i partly agree that if they give them more holidays its can be better so they can feel themselves had longer holidays .

On the one hand , studying for 9 months its quiet long for students and all of them will hate school especially when they get to used waking up in the morning so early and go back home untill 4:00 pm evening , furthermore while having exams they need to prepare at home and study harder all the time and they cant have no break at all especially in heigh school lessons are much complicated and difficult .

On the other hand , there are many students adore schools and for them this is as talent or skills they love to study and succeed and make their parents happy with their marks and score and when its comes the end of school they wish if they can study more for reaching their goals and dreams and build something in future perhaps can develop their country and fix it , and this kind of students don't care about how many days they give them holidays because they are used to love studying since their childhood .

In conclusion , there is one who doesn't like holidays and resting days , all of us want to take break from studying and playing with friends and travel somewhere and forget the stress

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You make a relevant attempt to discuss both sides: the first body paragraph describes the pressure of a long school year, while the second notes that some students enjoy studying and want to pursue their goals. However, the task asks specifically for the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter holidays, and these points are not clearly explained. For example, the response does not develop how a long break may help students rest or spend time with family, nor how shorter breaks might support learning or reduce disruption. Your position is also unclear: “I partly agree” does not specify which holiday length you favour, and the conclusion shifts to a general comment about wanting a break. Develop each requested argument and state a consistent view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several ideas are joined into long, loosely connected sentences. The first body paragraph moves from the length of the school year to waking early, returning home, and exam preparation without clearly showing how these points support shorter holidays. Linking phrases such as “furthermore” are used, but the relationships between ideas remain unclear. The conclusion also introduces a broad statement rather than summarising the two arguments. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to education and student experience, including “exams,” “complicated,” “succeed,” “goals,” and “stress.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning harder to follow. Examples include “spend great holidays,” “students adore schools,” and “this is as talent or skills.” Repetition of “students,” “study,” and “holidays” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise phrases that express the arguments, such as describing a break as “an opportunity to recover” or explaining that frequent breaks may “interrupt learning.” Check word forms and common collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to use both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “when,” “especially,” and “because.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently make the writing difficult to read. For instance, “studying for 9 months its quiet long” lacks a correct verb structure, while “when its comes the end of school” has problems with agreement and clause construction. Several sentences run on, particularly in the first body paragraph, and punctuation around clauses is inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and a clearly formed supporting clause before attempting longer combinations.
