Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many developed countries students get summer holidays for more than two months or atleast two months but in developing countries like Bangladesh has just seven to ten days as summer holidays.I support longer holidays in that case because long holidays are better inorder to plan trips and we can gather vast knowldge by traveling.
Moreover summer is the season of various fruits such as mango, watermilon, lichee and it is very enjoyable to have the taste of fruits in holidays. The longer holiday given by the school, will be longer fun for the students.Students can have the best time with their parents and the other members of the family. In my childhood I was just given 7 days holiday in summer as I am from Bangladesh and in that small vacation I could not even travel with my family to a longer distance due to having less holidays in summer.Even we were assigned some home work too that gave us pressure to complete and that ruined our holiday too.Incase of getting longer holiday students can travel more, can read more and can enjoy the fruits more. The value of longer school holidays are much more efficient that the shorter one. I would like to say if students can get more time to play that will also boost their mental and physical health too.
In the conclusion I am obiously with longer school holidays due to the more health and mental benefit. Even it is required to gain knowldge and to get the company of parents and others family member too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear preference for longer holidays, supported by personal experience of having only a short summer break in Bangladesh. You also explain benefits such as family travel, recreation, and students’ mental and physical health. However, the task asks for both the value of long holidays and arguments in favour of shorter ones. The second part is not addressed: there is no explanation of possible benefits such as maintaining learning routines or reducing the need for revision after a long break. Several points about longer holidays are repeated rather than developed with specific explanation or examples. To strengthen the response, discuss both sides and explain each main idea more fully before stating your conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a main paragraph, and a conclusion. The personal example also gives the discussion a clear point of reference. However, progression is limited because most of the essay develops only the case for longer holidays, and ideas within the main paragraph are joined in a long sequence rather than grouped into clear stages. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Even,” and “Incase” are sometimes awkward or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. The conclusion repeats the preference without bringing together a balanced discussion. Use separate paragraphs for the benefits of long holidays and the case for shorter breaks, and use clear referencing and transitions to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “summer holidays,” “mental and physical health,” “travel,” and “pressure.” These choices make your main meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “longer holiday,” “students,” and “more.” Some collocations and word forms are inaccurate, such as “vast knowldge,” “longer fun,” and “the value … are much more efficient,” which make parts of the message less natural. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “atleast,” “watermilon,” “obiously,” and “knowldge.” Build a wider set of precise expressions for discussing educational and social effects, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can generally follow your preference and personal example. However, the range of sentence patterns is limited, and longer sentences often contain several grammatical problems. For example, “in developing countries like Bangladesh has just seven to ten days” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “The value … are” has a subject–verb agreement error. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “the other members of the family” and the run-on sequence beginning “Incase of getting longer holiday.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and clauses, then proofread for agreement, articles, and full stops.
