Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, summer holidays last around two and more than two months especially in primary and secondary schools in asian countries .These holidays start at the start of june and last till august or mid of the august.

To begin with, In many countries primary and secondary schools close for two months or more than tw months in summer holidays in comparison of winters. These long holidays bascially, gave because childerns enjoy their summer in their hometowns and on the other hand, one reason is this to overcome the pressure of study. However, in some asian countries in summer temperature get too high so this is the main reason in asian countries for giving a long holidays.

Secondly, In summer enjoy their hoidays with their parents, friends, and with their relatives. Also, in many countries schools gave a summer vacation task to a students to do it at home and also gave a fun activities. Some students need a break from study due to the fact that they feel more pressure of their studies so they want a break.

In conclusion, Holidays are significantly important but also during the vacations giving task to the students is same value because in long vacations students only play and not try to do any task and activities. After a long vacation students don't want to study for this from my perspective, vacations are important but not a long holidays. So, In my opinion schools should change their vacations summery of a long holidays to a short holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions to some extent: you mention benefits such as relief from study pressure, time with family, and avoiding extreme summer heat, then argue that holidays should be shorter. However, the response is under the required 250 words by 12 words; the 13 words copied from the prompt were not counted. More importantly, the arguments are limited and under-developed. For example, you say students “enjoy their summer” and that holidays help them “overcome the pressure of study,” but do not explain how these benefits affect learning or wellbeing. The case for shorter holidays is also asserted rather than developed: the claim that students “only play” is not supported with an example or explanation. State your position clearly and extend each main point with a reason or relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure, with an opening, two body paragraphs signalled by “To begin with” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. These markers help readers identify the stages of your answer. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from holiday length to study pressure and then to high temperatures without showing how the points connect. The second paragraph combines family time, assigned tasks, and students’ need for a break, so its central focus is difficult to follow. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, and references such as “this” in “this is the main reason” are not fully clear. Group related benefits together, give the shorter-holiday argument its own focused paragraph, and use linking phrases to show cause, contrast, or consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “pressure of study,” “summer vacation task,” “relatives,” and “break,” which makes the general topic understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “a long holidays,” “gave because,” “fun activities,” and “vacations summery”; spelling errors such as “childerns,” “hoidays,” and “bascially” are also noticeable. These issues sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing education and holidays, and check spelling and word forms carefully. For instance, use “provide a break from academic pressure” rather than “overcome the pressure of study,” and “shorten the summer break” rather than “change their vacations.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast with “on the other hand” and a reason introduced by “due to the fact that.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “These long holidays bascially, gave because” lacks a correctly formed verb and clause structure, while “in summer temperature get too high” has problems with the article and verb agreement. The final sentence, “schools should change their vacations summery of a long holidays to a short holidays,” is also difficult to follow grammatically. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one clear subordinate clause. Check singular and plural forms, articles, and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
