Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64), the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the peak in loans in 2016. However, coverage is partial and some figures or trends are inaccurate. The children’s share is 22%, but the response does not give the 51% adult figure or clearly report the 15% and 12% groups. More importantly, loans did not rise continuously: they fell after 2011, then increased again, and 2009 was level with 2008 rather than a year of decline. The overview is also vague. A clearer summary of the main patterns, supported by accurate comparisons across all three visuals, would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from membership figures to loan categories and then the yearly trend, and phrases such as “Then we see” signal a change of focus. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening refers to loans before explaining the membership chart, and the final paragraph’s trend description is difficult to follow because it says loans increased over time but also mentions decreases without clearly locating them. Several ideas are crowded together, while paragraphing does not clearly separate the three visuals. Use a concise overview followed by one focused paragraph for each chart or set of related information, and connect comparisons with precise references such as “by contrast” or “after 2011”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “members,” “categories,” “fiction,” “non-fiction,” “percentage,” and “peak,” so the reader can generally identify the subject. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several repeated or imprecise expressions make the report less natural, such as “loan given,” “ratio of loan,” and “different aspects.” Some word choices obscure the intended meaning; for example, “the loan on children and adults fiction” is not a natural way to describe shares of total loans. Spelling errors such as “weas” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language—“accounted for,” “share,” “total loans,” and “rose/fell”—and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, with limited evidence of controlled complex forms. Errors are frequent enough to make some relationships difficult to interpret. For example, “Mostly the members of this Library adults of age 18 to 64” lacks a finite verb, while “the percentage of loan weas about 15200 which increases years after” has problems with sentence structure, tense, and the connection between clauses. There are also missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent punctuation, as in “groups.First” and “ratio.Then.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences and accurate past-tense reporting, such as “The number of loans rose from approximately 15,700 in 2007 to 21,700 in 2016.” Use commas and full stops to separate comparisons clearly.
