Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrates the age of a public library members in 2016 while table shows the percentage of total loans by categories and bar graph compares the total number of loans between 2007 to 2016 in a town named Chalfont.

Overall, adults aged over 18 to 64 are the majority with more than half of the total members. Besides children's and adults fiction had the most amount of loans in 2016 while the most number of loans had taken in 2016 followed by 2015 and 2011.

Little Chalfont Library had the most amount of members aged from 18 to 64(adults).

This group accounted for 51 percent of the total members followed by children with 22 parcent and rest of the 27 percent members are young adults(13-17) and adults 65 and over.

In terms of loans, children's fiction and adult fiction had similar proportion of 38 percent each. Only mentionable number among rest of the categories is 13 percent of adult non- fiction.

In the bar chart, the year 2007 was the year with least number of loans (16000) and after that year the numbere were hovering around near 20000. The number increased at 2008 to up until 2012 before dropping in 2013 and went up again in 2014 . In 2016 the numbers reached its peak of roughly 22000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover all three visuals and provide a clear overview: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction dominates loans, and borrowing reaches its highest point in 2016. Most reported figures are accurate, including the 51% adult membership share and the two 38% fiction categories. The trend description also captures the broad rise, dip and recovery. Some details are less precise: the chart shows about 15,700 loans in 2007, rather than 16,000, and the increase does not continue through 2012, since loans fall slightly from 2011 to 2012. The overview’s phrase “most number of loans had taken” is also unclear about the comparison. More exact reporting of these changes would strengthen an otherwise well-focused summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear four-part structure: introduction, overview, membership and loan-category details, followed by the decade-long trend. This makes the main information easy to locate, and transitions such as “Overall,” “In terms of loans,” and “In the bar chart” help signal shifts between visuals. The organisation is coherent, but some links are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “after that year the numbers were hovering” does not clearly distinguish the initial rise from the later fluctuations, and the final trend sentence strings several changes together. The reference to “the rest of the 27 percent members” also makes the relationship between the two smaller groups less smooth. Use clearer sequencing and connect each trend stage explicitly to its year.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the visuals, including “accounted for,” “proportion,” “categories,” “majority,” and “reached its peak.” These choices generally communicate the data, and there is some variety in how you describe comparisons and trends. However, several collocations and word forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “most amount of members,” “most amount of loans,” “mentionable number,” and “the numbere were hovering around near 20000.” Spelling slips such as “parcent” and “num bere” (written as “numbere”) also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language—“largest group,” “highest number,” “notable share,” and “fluctuated around”—and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and more complex comparisons, and the overall meaning is usually clear. For instance, the overview combines several main features, while the trend paragraph uses time clauses and contrasts. However, some errors in articles, agreement, tense and sentence construction remain. The opening says “a public library members,” and “the most number of loans had taken” lacks a clear grammatical subject and uses an unsuitable passive form. In “the numbers reached its peak,” the plural subject does not agree with “its”; “the year 2007 was the year with least number” also needs an article. Punctuation and spacing around figures and parentheses are inconsistent. Review article use, subject–verb agreement and complete clause structure, while retaining your attempts at varied sentences.
