Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pie chart illustrates the age of the Little chalfonts` library clients, while the table demostrates total loans by category in 2016, like the pie chart. in addition the bar chart shows the total number of loans between 2007 and 2016.

Overall adults are the largest group of library members, however older individuals are the smallest group. In terms of borrowings Children and adult`s fiction books are the most popular. By looking at the bar chart we can see that in the year 2007 the loans were the lowest but by the comig years it started getting more loans and remained almost stable thru out the years.

Although the adults aged 18-64 are the largest age group by Over a half. We can make out that Children are the second largest with 22% in addition young adults aged 13-17 are only 15% while the oldest adult group aged 65+ are 12% which makes them the smallest group-

There are seven different loan categories, the most popular ones are adult, and children`s fiction with 38% each while the least popular one being children`s dvds with only 1%

The given bar chart however remained pretty stable after 2007 while going up and down in some areas like the years 2012,2013 and 2014. but then went back to risen up in 2016 with over 20,000 loans

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You identify the main features across all three visuals: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, the two fiction categories lead borrowing, and loans are lowest at the start of the period before generally rising. The figures you give for the age groups and leading and least popular categories match the data. The overview is relevant, but the trend description is too general: loans did not simply remain stable after 2007; they rose to about 21,000 in 2011, fell to around 19,600 in 2013, then increased to approximately 21,700 by 2016. Add key figures or clearer comparisons for this movement, and report the 6%, 13%, and 2% categories to make the summary more complete. Your coverage is clear, though some features are developed more fully than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for membership, borrowing categories, and the loan trend. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. However, progression within the final paragraphs is less controlled. The last paragraph repeats the idea that the chart was “pretty stable” after the overview has already described the trend, and “however” does not establish a clear contrast there. Some linking phrases, such as “Although” at the start of the membership paragraph, leave the sentence incomplete in meaning before the next sentence begins. Organise the details into a more deliberate sequence and use links to show the actual relationship between ideas, rather than adding them mechanically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “library members,” “loans,” “categories,” “largest group,” and “most popular,” so the main comparisons are understandable. There is some variety in how you refer to the visuals, but several choices are imprecise or informal for an academic report: “clients” is less suitable than “members,” “getting more loans” is vague, and “pretty stable” is conversational. Spelling errors such as “demostrates” and “comig,” along with inconsistent forms such as “Little chalfonts`,” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend language and check spelling and apostrophes carefully. A wider set of accurate terms for increases, declines, and fluctuations would help you describe the data more flexibly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “although.” However, complex structures are often not controlled successfully. “Although the adults aged 18-64 are the largest age group by Over a half” is an incomplete and awkwardly formed sentence, while “the oldest adult group aged 65+ are 12%” has a subject–verb agreement problem. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation issues, such as beginning “in addition” after a full stop with a lowercase letter and joining ideas with commas. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, capitalization, and punctuation.
