Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify two relevant features: adults form the largest membership group, while young adults are the smallest, and children’s fiction is a major loan category. However, the response addresses only a small part of the task. It gives no figures, does not describe the 2007–2016 loan trend, and leaves the final sentence unfinished (“pie chart shows that”). The claim that children’s fiction was the most popular category is also incomplete, since adult fiction had the same share at 38%. The response is 89 words below the required minimum, which contributes to the lack of coverage. To improve, report the main features of all three visuals, support comparisons with accurate data, and complete the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overall statement and comments on membership and borrowing. The use of “Overall” and “Furthermore” signals relationships between ideas. However, the progression is very limited, and the final phrase, “Futher more, pie chart shows that,” is unfinished, leaving the reader without a complete account. The ideas are not grouped into clear sections for the different charts, and the repeated additions do not create a developed summary. Use a brief introduction, a clear overview, and separate detail paragraphs, with each sentence completing one comparison or trend.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “adults,” “young adults,” “category,” and “borrow,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and several spelling errors—“libraray,” “visted,” “Chirldren’s,” and “Futher”—are noticeable. Some phrasing is also imprecise: “most interesting category” describes preference rather than the chart’s measured share, and “adults visited the library most” does not clearly express that adults made up the largest membership group. Choose precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “loan share,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and a more developed sentence beginning “as most of the people borrow it,” showing some effort to connect ideas. However, grammatical control is uneven. In “The given charts demonstrates,” the plural subject requires a plural verb; “adults visited the library most” also uses a past-tense verb where a present-tense description of chart data would be more suitable. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “Overall, It,” and the final sentence fragment (“Futher more, pie chart shows that”) is incomplete and lacks an article before “pie chart.” Aim for complete, accurately punctuated sentences and check subject–verb agreement, tense, and articles.
