IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The charts illustrate the information regarding the members of different ages and total loans taken by different categories in a public library between 2007 and 2016.

From an overall perspective, it is evident that the major proportion of members is adults, while children DVDs in the category accounted for the least proportion of loan. The number of loans were fluctuating throughout the period.

From the pie chart it is evident that major proportion of members was occupied by adults that is 51%, followed by children (22%), young adults (15%) and adults 65 and over (12%). Interestingly, children fiction and adult fiction recorded same proportion of loan which is 38%. In contrast, young adults and adult audio books was accounted for least proportion of loan which is 2%.

Switching to the bar graph, the total number of loans were above 15,000 in 2007, which rose dramatically to near about 20,000 in 2008. During [redacted phone], the number of loans remained almost same, which is more than 20,000. Noticeably, after 2013, the amount of loans follow an upward trend.
