Student answer (Band 7.5)
The given charts provide data about a town called Little Chalfont's public library.
Overall, it is clear that the adults between the ages 18-64 dominate the members category. Moreover, the fictions have the highest share of the total loans and total number of loans are mainly fluctated between 2007 and 2016.
Firstly, the cohort between 18-64 make up the half of the library members at 51% and this figure is followed by the children cohort at 22%. In addition, the category of total loans share showed a similar trend, adult and children's fiction books both have the highest percentages at 38%, the other categories ranked between 13% to %1, while children's DVDs has the lowest at 1%.
Furthermore, the total numbers of loans between the years 2007 and 2016 showed a fluctation, this figure started at just above 15,000 and witnessed a dramatic increase after a year at approximately 19,000. After that the figure is hovered around 20,000 and reached roughly 22.000 in the year 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts, including the demographic breakdown, loan categories, and the trend in total loans over time. You made relevant comparisons, such as noting the dominance of the 18-64 age group and the similarity in percentages for adult and children's fiction. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurately described; for instance, the description of the loan categories is slightly confusing due to the phrasing 'adult and children's fiction books both have the highest percentages at 38%'. Overall, you have provided a clear summary that addresses all parts of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through the information. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the demographic data to the loan categories and finally the chronological trend. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct sets of data, which helps the reader navigate the information easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Terms like 'cohort', 'dominate', 'witnessed a dramatic increase', and 'fluctuation' are used appropriately in the context of a data report. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fictions' (which should be 'fiction' as it is an uncountable noun in this context) and 'total number of loans are mainly fluctated' (which should be 'fluctuated'). Despite these minor errors, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for precise communication of the data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'the cohort between 18-64 make up the half... and this figure is followed by...'. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'the fictions have' (should be 'fiction has'), 'total number of loans are mainly fluctated' (should be 'fluctuated'), and 'the figure is hovered' (should be 'the figure hovered'). Punctuation is generally correct, although there is a minor error with the decimal point in '22.000' (should be '22,000'). These errors do not impede communication, and you show a good command of basic and some complex structures.
