Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The provided charts illustrates the information about a public little Chalfont library. The table chart data has been calibrated into percentage, while bar graph data has been calibrated into numbers.
Overall, it is crystal clear that a similar value is covered by children's fiction which is category of loan.
At a fleeting glance, pie chart gives information about age of library members in 2016 and the highest number of members were adult that were included in age group 18-64 which are 51. Moreover, in table chart there were numerous categories of loan; young adults and adult non-fiction covered value of 2% and 13% respectively.
Moving ahead, bar chart depicts the total number of loans in the time period of 9 years. The number of loans in the former year was more than 15,000 that rose to 22,000 in 2011. After 2011, the graph showed fewer fluctuations but the number didn't surpass by 22,000.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by summarizing the three charts provided. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear, comprehensive overview of the data. While you mention the age groups and loan categories, the comparisons are underdeveloped. For instance, you mention the 2011 peak in the bar chart but fail to compare it effectively with the start or end of the period. Additionally, the description of the table data is fragmented and does not clearly highlight the most significant trends or differences between the categories. To improve, ensure you group related data points logically and provide a more analytical summary of the main features rather than just listing isolated figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'At a fleeting glance' and 'Moving ahead'. The progression of ideas between sentences is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from the pie chart to the table data feels abrupt. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the somewhat repetitive sentence structure limit the flow of the response. Improving the variety of transition signals would enhance the logical progression of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'calibrated into percentage' and 'the graph showed fewer fluctuations but the number didn't surpass by 22,000'. These phrasing issues slightly hinder the clarity of the report. You rely on basic descriptors and could benefit from using more specific academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'. Expanding your range of collocations related to data description will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect readability. Examples include 'The provided charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement error), 'adult that were included' (relative pronoun usage), and 'the number didn't surpass by 22,000' (incorrect preposition usage). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for these common slips will help increase your accuracy significantly.
