Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task, including the age demographics, loan categories, and the trend over time. You have successfully identified the main features and made relevant comparisons, such as noting that children's and adult fiction share the same proportion. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting; for example, you state that adult fiction and children's fiction are 38% each, which would total 76%, whereas the chart shows they are 38% combined or individually distinct. Additionally, the description of the trend over time is slightly confused in the final paragraph. Improving the precision of data extraction will help you reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. There is a clear overall progression from the overview to the specific details. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In contrast', 'By comparison', and 'Regarding the age of library members', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are instances where sentence structure could be smoother to improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets, which is a positive feature of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounted for', 'dominant genres', and 'steady growth'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'accounted the highest numbers' (should be 'accounted for') and 'remained consistent at the same levels'. You also have some repetitive phrasing, such as 'numbers' and 'figures'. To improve, try to vary your verbs and nouns when describing data trends and proportions. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your points clearly, but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'adults 18-64 accounted the highest numbers', 'children's fiction and adult fiction has the same amounts', and 'it start experienced up and down'. These errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic verb forms and ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree in number.
