Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to cover all three charts, but the analysis is incomplete. While the pie chart and table are described, the bar graph section is cut off mid-sentence, failing to provide a summary of the trends or comparisons for that data. The overview is missing, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends at the beginning or end of your report and complete the description of all data sets provided in the prompt. The current response lacks the necessary depth to fully address the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a basic manner (e.g., 'Finally for bar chart'), but the lack of a concluding sentence or a cohesive overview makes the structure feel disjointed. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are spelling errors such as 'defferent' instead of 'different'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive phrasing like 'amount of loan was taken'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'accounted for'. Using more precise terminology will help demonstrate a better command of the language and improve the overall quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'amount of loan were taken' (subject-verb agreement) and 'Adults 65 and over members number' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the final paragraph. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of the report. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence structure will help improve your accuracy.
