Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some main features, the reporting is fragmented and lacks a clear, analytical overview. You have attempted to describe the data, but the lack of sufficient detail and the failure to reach the word count limit mean the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the trends and comparisons, and expand on the data points to meet the length requirement. Ensure all parts of the prompt are covered with sufficient detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear structure. The paragraphs are poorly defined, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'firstly' and 'however', but they are not used effectively to link ideas logically. The text feels like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. To improve, focus on using clear paragraphing: one for the introduction/overview, and separate paragraphs for the different charts. Use a wider range of linking words to connect your sentences and ensure the flow of information is logical and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'information', 'total number', and 'increase'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'pi chart' (pie chart), 'majorty' (majority), 'treand' (trend), and 'childreans' (children's). The use of '15k' and '20k' is acceptable in a report, but the overall range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. To improve, try to incorporate more varied verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'proportion', and 'segment'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the chart give', 'adults... was'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to read. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization. Practice using complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions to add variety and improve the accuracy of your writing.
