IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The mixed charts illustrates the information about a public library in a town known as Little Chalfont. The units are measured in Percentage and thousands.

Overall, the age of library members was more adults followed by other age groups. Moreover, the loans taken by a fiction was at highest, while DVD's were lowest. Loans taken each year fluctuated constantly.

There were four age groups considered in which the adults 18-64 shared the maximum with a little more than half for 51%, whereas young adults 13-17 were least with 12%.There were loans taken for many categories of books in which fiction series shared the highest with 38%, In contrast to, non fiction, DVD'S ,young adults and audio books were very less with 19%,1%, 2% and 2% respectively.

However, the loans taken each year fluctuated as per requirement of categories. The least loan was taken in 2007 of nearly 15000 and peak in 2016 for between 20,000 and 25,000. It changed but was nearly 20,000 every year.

Expanding your range to include more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'predominant', 'accounted for', or 'marginal', would enhance the quality of your writing.
