IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 7.5)
The pie chart above illustrates the different age of library attendants in Little Chalfont in the year 2016, while the table shows the total loan taken by different groups in the same year. Also, there's a chart representing the total number of loans taken from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults aged 18 to 64 were the highest group that visited the library in 2016, with a percentage of 51. Also, 2016 happens to be year when the highest loan was given, while the children and adult fiction books had the highest rate of loan in this year.
It was observed that adults who were 65 years and above had the least interest in the library followed by young adults between the age bracket of 13 to 17. Furthermore, with children and adults being the highest to visit Little Chalfont Library, most of their materials were borrowed. More than half of the people that went to the library preferred borrowing the fiction books, hence making the adult and children fiction books the most borrowed in 2016. The least borrowed item from the library was the children's DVD, with a proportion of 1%.
Finally, the rate of loan collected increased gradually from 2007 till 2012 where there was a little decrease, and then a gradual increase started again from 2014. The highest loan was granted in 2016, which was a bit more than 20,000 while the year with the least loan was the 2007.
