The pie chart, table and bar graph depict the information about the age of library members in 2016 and total number of loans between 2007 and 2016 of a public library in a town called Little Chalfont Library.

Overall, the largest percentage of library members belonged to age group of adults 18-64. Children's fiction and adult fiction accounted for the largest proportion of loans in 2016. The figures for loans from 2007 to 2016 witnessed moderate fluctuations by ending to an overall increase.

For pie chart, the most frequent visitors of the library were the adults between 18 and 64 with 51% of the total members, whereas the adults of age group 65 and over accounted for 12%. The percentage of children was 22% and young adults was 15%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You covered all three visual elements (pie chart, table, and bar graph) and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the dominant age group and the trend in loans. The data is accurately reported, and the inclusion of specific figures supports your points well. To reach a higher band, ensure that you explicitly link the data points to the specific charts or tables more consistently, and perhaps group the information more logically to highlight the relationships between the library membership and the loan trends more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that address each data set separately. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'thereafter', and 'before falling to' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different types of data. To improve, ensure that the transition between the discussion of the pie chart and the table is smoother, as the current shift feels slightly abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly, using terms like 'accounted for', 'proportion', and 'fluctuations'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is appropriate for an academic task. However, there are minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'ending to an overall increase' (which should be 'ending in') and 'most frequent visitors' (which is slightly awkward in this context). Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would further enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, and your control of grammar is generally good. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the meaning is always clear. There are occasional minor errors, such as 'For pie chart' (missing an article: 'For the pie chart') and 'adults of age group 65' (should be 'in the age group'). These errors do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as passive voice or relative clauses, to demonstrate greater flexibility.
