Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student provides a clear overview of the charts and summarises the main features, such as the proportions of library members by age and the categories of loans. However, some details are unclear; for instance, the statement about adults and children's loans could be better structured. Additionally, the comparison of total loans lacks clarity and specificity regarding the years referenced.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response maintains a logical flow overall, but there are issues with cohesion. Phrases like "further more" should be "furthermore" for better coherence. The use of connecting words is somewhat mechanical; integrating them more naturally could enhance readability. The final point about total loans feels rushed and could benefit from more structured comparison of data points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate, but some inaccuracies affect meaning, such as "popluar" instead of "popular". The usage of terms like "largest proportion" and "steady increased" needs correction to improve precision. There's a couple of repetitive phrases, and some word choices lack variety, like "total number of loans" mentioned multiple times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Grammatical range is limited, with consistent errors in subject-verb agreement and tense, as seen in "children's and adult fiction hold 38%" where it should be "holds". Sentence structures are mostly simple and occasionally run-on. There are misspellings that detract from overall clarity, such as in "fluctutaed" and "roset" which should be corrected to "fluctuated" and "rose" respectively.
Overall feedback
Your response provides a solid overview of the charts, displaying your ability to identify key features. You've made some good comparisons, particularly regarding the proportions of library members. However, to improve, focus on structuring your sentences more cohesively and checking for spelling errors that can confuse the reader. Additionally, varying your vocabulary will help to convey your points more effectively. Look to practice using more complex sentences and ensure that all sentences convey clear, grammatically correct ideas to enhance your score.
