Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The task achievement is adequately addressed as the student summarizes key features regarding library membership and loan statistics effectively. The response highlights the main groups of library members and details about the loans, although some comparative elements could be clearer. For instance, the comparison between different age groups and loan categories could be better emphasized to enhance clarity.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

Coherence and cohesion are generally good; the response is organized logically with appropriate use of linking words, such as "meanwhile" and "additionally." However, there are instances where the flow could be improved, such as the transition between discussing age groups and loan categories. Furthermore, clearer paragraph breaks could help delineate different parts of the information more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

The lexical resource is fairly strong, with appropriate vocabulary used for the context, such as "constituted," "majority," and "minority." However, there are repetitive phrases like "made up the largest proportion" which could be varied. Minor errors, such as "summarises" which should be 'summarizes' in American English context, could be improved. Overall, the vocabulary is suitable but could be more diverse.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

Grammatical range and accuracy show good control, with varied sentence structures throughout the response. However, minor errors are noted, such as in the phrase "representing more than half of library members"; clarity would improve if it were rephrased. Additionally, there are typographical issues and an incomplete sentence at the end, weakening the overall grammatical presentation slightly.

Overall feedback

You have successfully conveyed the main points regarding library membership and borrowing statistics. Your organization of information is logical, making it easy to follow. To further improve your response, consider focusing on drawing clearer comparisons between statistics, ensuring a more comprehensive analysis. Additionally, working on enhancing variety in your vocabulary can elevate your writing, as repeated phrases can detract from its sophistication. Pay attention to minor grammatical errors and ensure that your sentences are complete and clear. With these improvements, you can aim for a higher band in Task 1.
