The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The pie chart, table and the bar graph illustrates a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Overall, the largest proportion was allocated to adults aged 18-64 years while those 65 and above were given the smallest share. Children's fiction and adult fiction accounted for the biggest loans percentage while children's DVDs received the smallest. Additionally, the bar graph showed an upward trend in the total number of loans across the period.

From the bar chart, adults aged 18-64 accounted for 51%. This was followed by children, young adults between 13-17 years and adults aged 65 and above each being allocated 22%, 15% and 12% respectively. During the same year, children's fiction and adult fiction received 38% of loans. Adult-non fiction, children's non-fiction, adult audio books and children's DVDs received 13%, 6%, 2% and 1% accordingly.

The number of loans increased gradually from 2007 to 2016 although there were some slight fluctuations. Initially, the numbers stood at around 16000 and increased to around 21000 in 2010. Although the figures remained relatively stable for the rest of the years, they recorded a low of nearly 19000 in 2013.
