Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided charts. However, it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends effectively. The data selection is somewhat disjointed, and the comparison between categories is limited. While the main features are touched upon, the lack of a clear summary of the overall trend (e.g., the general increase in library loans over time) prevents a higher score. The information is presented in a fragmented way, and the distinction between the two charts is not clearly articulated for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'First of all, we discussion about...' and 'On the other hand,' which is used incorrectly to transition between unrelated data sets. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of figures. The structure feels like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report, which limits the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'information,' 'types,' and 'loans.' There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'we discussion about' instead of 'we discuss' and 'greater then' instead of 'greater than.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the persistent errors in basic word usage restrict the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The bar chart illustrate,' 'Adults were greater then'), incorrect verb tenses ('its decreased'), and awkward phrasing ('same like on the year of 2015'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. A wider range of error-free complex structures is needed for a higher band.
