Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting relevant data from the three charts. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the dominance of the 18-64 age group and the upward trend in total loans. However, the description of the data could be more precise. For example, stating that loans 'stayed the same' between 2008 and 2009 is a good observation, but some of the specific figures in the final paragraph are slightly vague or confusingly phrased. Overall, the report is well-structured and addresses the requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the different charts. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Regarding', and 'Afterwards' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For instance, the sentence 'In 2016, adults at the age between 18-64 was the largest group... represented 51%, following with children made up 22%' is a bit clunky. Improving the flow between these clauses would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'category', and 'upward trend'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'friction age' (likely a typo for 'fiction' or just an error) and 'represented 51%' (should be 'representing'). Additionally, the repetition of 'total amount of loans' could be avoided by using synonyms like 'the overall volume of borrowing' or 'the total number of items checked out'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'adult at the age... was', 'Fictions was') and article usage. Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'the bar graph shows a number of total loans', which would be better as 'the bar graph shows the total number of loans'. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication, and you show an attempt to use a variety of structures to describe trends over time.
