Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to cover all parts of the task. While you have attempted to introduce the charts, the summary is incomplete and fails to report the main features or make meaningful comparisons. The inclusion of irrelevant text ('as ssssss') further detracts from the task. To improve, you must provide a clear overview of the data trends and select specific data points to support your summary, ensuring you meet the minimum word count to allow for a full development of the information provided in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response lacks a clear logical progression. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and a summary, the paragraphs are underdeveloped and the connection between ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and ineffective. The final line of the text is nonsensical, which disrupts the flow of the writing. To improve, focus on structuring your response with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and body paragraphs that group related data together using appropriate linking words such as 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' or 'consequently.'
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'illustrate' and 'information' multiple times. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'highest person of library users' instead of 'highest proportion of library users' or 'bar char chart' which is a spelling error. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'accounted for,' to describe the trends shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. For example, 'The pie chart illustrate' should be 'The pie chart illustrates' (subject-verb agreement). The sentence structure is simplistic, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. The phrase 'total numbers of loans were seen in the last year in bar char chart' is grammatically awkward and unclear. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and verb and that your punctuation is used correctly.
