IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The bar chat shows the loan over the period of time from [redacted phone]. The pie chat shows each age group of the library members in 2016. And the table shows the loan by category in 2016.

Overall, adults aged 18-64 made up the majority of library members in 2016, while fiction books were by far the most popular among both children and adults. Additionally, the total number of items borrowed shows an increasing trend over the ten year period.

In 2016, adults aged 18-64 represented over half of all library members being 51%, followed by children being 22%, young adults aged 13-17 being 15%, and adults aged 65 and over being 12%. In terms of item categories, children's fiction and adult fiction were the most borrowed, each accounting for 38%. Non fiction items were less borrowed both for children and adults. Adults noon fitting making up 13% while children making up only 6%. Audio books were the least borrowed between 1%-2%.
