IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The charts present data on chalfont Library mentioning the ages of members,number and categories of loan in 2016.

Overall, adults of 16-64 ages shows highest percentage. By contrast,adults over 65 age had lowest ratio. While children's fiction and adult fiction had similar ratio and that was highest in terms of loan category. Similarly, children's DVDs recorded lowest percentage. From the the beginning year, the loan proportion was lowest but it raised over the period.

To begin with ages of members, 51% were adults, children follow at 22%. Adults over 65 were only 12%. Remaining 15%were young adults.

In terms of number of loan, people took 15,000 loan in 2007. Over the period, the amount was consistently increasing. In 2013, the proportion of cash slightly decreased. Finally, it became up to 20,000 in 2016.

With regards to total loan taken by each category, the adults fiction and children fiction showed similar ratio that is 38%. Adults non-fiction takes 13%. Whereas, children's non-fiction, young adults and adults audio books have smaller shares(6%,2%,2% respectively). Children's DVDs has lowest percentage that is 1%.
