Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of all three charts. The overview is clear and highlights the key trends, such as the dominance of adult members and the general upward trend in loans. You have also made relevant comparisons, such as noting that children's and adult fiction were equally popular. The data is accurately reported, and you have covered all parts of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently use precise terminology; for example, instead of saying 'famous items', use 'popular categories'. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by chart. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Regarding', and 'Finally' to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the library data. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the referencing is clear. To improve further, you could vary your cohesive devices slightly more to avoid a somewhat mechanical feel, but the current structure is effective and easy to follow throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'represented' correctly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'famous items' (which is not appropriate for library books) and 'buyers' (when referring to library loans, 'borrowers' or 'users' would be more accurate). While you attempt to use a variety of terms, the vocabulary is somewhat functional rather than sophisticated. Focusing on more precise collocations related to data reporting will help you reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, which aids communication. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'Young adults book' (should be 'Young adult books') and 'accounted 6%' (missing the preposition 'for'). Additionally, there is a typo in the introduction ('207' instead of '2007'). Despite these occasional errors, your control over grammar is generally good, and the meaning is never obscured. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help improve this score.
