Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three visual elements provided in the prompt. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of adult membership and the specific loan categories. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions the highest and lowest proportions, it could be more cohesive. The comparison between the categories is clear, but some data points could be grouped more effectively to highlight trends rather than just listing percentages. Overall, you have provided a clear summary of the information, meeting the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific chart. You use transition signals like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the pie chart and the table is abrupt. The use of referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between ideas could be tightened to improve the overall progression of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'proportion', 'constituted', 'fluctuated', and 'oscillated' appropriately. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'elder people' (should be 'elderly people') and 'the figure for loans were oscillated' (should be 'the figure for loans fluctuated'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' or 'decrease' would further enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the figure for loans were oscillated' and 'these figure fluctuated'. Additionally, there are minor issues with articles and pluralization, such as 'In table' (should be 'In the table') and 'Young-adults has the 15%'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles when referring to specific data sets.
