Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response identifies the main features of the chart, such as the high percentage of fiction loans for both adults and children. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. The description of the data is occasionally inaccurate, such as the claim that children took the 'minimum amount of loan' without clarifying if this refers to the total volume or specific categories. Furthermore, the comparison between categories is sometimes confusing, particularly when discussing the 'average' of loans. To improve, ensure that the overview clearly synthesises the main trends rather than just listing individual data points, and verify that comparisons are mathematically accurate based on the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'Lastly'. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the transition between the general overview and the specific data points. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more naturally, and ensure that the logical flow between the introduction, body paragraphs, and the summary is smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'loan taken by different catagories' and 'consumed loan for about 38%'. The word 'catagories' is also misspelled. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'accounted for', or 'figures'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the text and will make your writing more engaging and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the total loan which took for children's non fiction activities' and 'which was doubled than children's amount'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of comparative structures will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
