Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the age groups and loan categories, the reporting of data is inconsistent and lacks precision. For example, you mention 'gradual improvement' and 'decline negligible' without referencing the specific years or figures provided in the charts. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical errors, such as 'adult mean while'. To improve, ensure you select key data points to support your descriptions and avoid vague generalizations. The comparison between categories is attempted, but the lack of clear data integration makes it difficult for the reader to follow the trends effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In initial stage' and 'at the end the trend was upward' lack proper articles and logical flow. The transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the decline and the upward trend is confusing. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would help create a smoother progression of ideas throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'top', 'lowest', and 'bottom' to describe the data. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'adult mean while' and 'least members'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and precision prevents a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', 'fluctuated', or 'accounted for'. Additionally, ensure you use the correct plural forms, such as 'adults' instead of 'adult'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'adult fiction remains top', 'number of loan decline'), missing articles ('in 2016', 'in initial stage'), and incorrect word forms ('one quater'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on basic accuracy: ensure subjects and verbs agree, use articles correctly, and proofread for punctuation. Strengthening your control over simple sentences before attempting more complex ones will help reduce the frequency of these errors.
